The quest Two Sides of the Coin in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion presents players with a classic tale of deception, crime, and conflicting perspectives in the snowy city of Bruma. What starts as a simple investigation into missing gold quickly evolves into a moral dilemma involving a former thief and her imprisoned partner. Understanding the different paths available helps adventurers maximize their rewards while navigating the quest's unexpected twists.

Starting the Bruma Investigation

Players begin this adventure by gathering rumors around Bruma until they hear about Arnora Auria, a local woman claiming her gold was stolen. Visiting her home behind the chapel reveals a deeper story involving her incarcerated boyfriend, Jorundr. Arnora requests that you speak with Jorundr in the castle dungeon to find out where the stolen loot is hidden.

Infiltrating the Bruma Dungeon

When approaching Jorundr in his cell, he will initially refuse to speak with any outsiders. To earn his trust, players must get arrested and spend time in jail alongside him. Once behind bars, Jorundr tells a vastly different story, accusing Arnora of setting him up and demanding her death as proof of your loyalty.

Tricking Jorundr or Eliminating Arnora

Players can choose to spare Arnora by striking a deal to recover her true amulet from her chest without taking her life. Presenting this authentic red amulet tricks Jorundr into revealing the treasure location outside the city gates. Alternatively, players can choose to slay Arnora directly, though doing so carries legal risks if done improperly.

Confronting the Corrupt Guard and Rewards

If you choose to trick Jorundr, a corrupt guard named Tyrellius Logellus will kill Arnora while you are away and confront you at the hidden stash location. Eliminating Tyrellius allows you to collect the hidden gold alongside valuable skill books as your final reward. Evaluating all choices ensures players leave Bruma with both the stolen loot and maximum character progression.
